    3. See Comments below obituary. Mabel Barefield Mabel Barefield, 73, of Baytown, passed away, Monday, April 29, 2002 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. Mabel was born May 2, 1928 in Decatur, Illinois. She lived in Baytown for 48 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and Canary Club. She was retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Victoria Carter, brothers, Don, Bert, Lester, Fred, Cager and sisters, Lois, Doris and Betty. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Barefield of Baytown; son, Roy Barefield and wife Cindy of Baytown; brother, Jim Carter and wife Peggy of Decatur; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Alexander Chapel @ Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church with Rev. Roddy Bland and Rev. Jeff Powers officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to Sterling Municipal Library for Book Dedications. October 09, 1889 Allen Co., Kentucky and Queen Victoria Swindle b. October 20, 1894, Macon Co., Tennessee. Her grandparents were: Samuel A. Carter b. January 25, 1867 Allie Manerva Janie Roark b. December 16, 1865 and Jobe Anderson Swindle b. April 29, 1857 Arabel Butrum b. May 02, 1860 Mabel also had four children with Robert Hayes; Carol Irene, Paul Jeffrey, William David and Nita Van.
