Hello List Folks, Before marriage my name was Brenda Jean Carter. My great Grandfather lived in Ohio and fought in the 14th Infantry. He married Mattie Hand I believe. His tombstone reads Jon Carter and then the civil war info. Mattie, possibly short for Martha or something similar, is burried next to him. My Grandfather Eldon Carter is burried next to them with his wife Mary. They ar burried in a small cemetery in Indian River Michigan. Our family remains in Michigan. I am hoping to find someone who can connect to the family when they were in Ohio or in Detroit MI. We ar now in the area of Saginaw MI. Any ideas? Anything seem the least bit familiar to any Carters out there? My father is in his 80's and says there were rumors of possible Indian blood in the family and he suspects English or French. I do not rule out Irish either. I WANT to know where we came from and I am lost . Help.Help? Thanks to anyone with info or ideas. Brenda
