    1. RE: [CARTER-L] CARTER
    2. The Cook's
    3. Hello! I am reading this line of Carters with much interest as my ggGrandmother, Elizabeth Jane Carter was born 1838 in Fountain County, Indiana. I've yet to find parents or siblings for her. She married 1. James Johnson of Iroquois County, Illinois and 2. Scott S. Ethington of Fountain Co., Ind. In Census' she states her father was b. in Ohio and mother in Pa. That is all I have of her heritage at this time. Thanks for sharing, Marie Cook -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Bower [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, July 22, 2002 7:06 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CARTER-L] CARTER My Carters lived in Vermillion county IN in the 1830's, but my g.g. grandfather, James Carter, migrated to Jasper and Cumberland counties in Illinois. There were two or three different families in Vermillion county at that time, also some Carters in Vigo county, south of Vermillion, and in Clay county. I still haven't figured out whether any of them were related to my James Carter. I do have some bits and pieces of information about the various families. Do you have any more specific info about given names? More specific location?
