Looking for someone that may have info on the CARTER clan from Western Indiana, or White County (Carmi) Illinois, sometime around early or mid 1850's. Bob Carter St. Charles, MO

My Carters lived in Vermillion county IN in the 1830's, but my g.g. grandfather, James Carter, migrated to Jasper and Cumberland counties in Illinois. There were two or three different families in Vermillion county at that time, also some Carters in Vigo county, south of Vermillion, and in Clay county. I still haven't figured out whether any of them were related to my James Carter. I do have some bits and pieces of information about the various families. Do you have any more specific info about given names? More specific location?
