Hi David, Just received your rootsweb post. Am very interested as I have a Jacob HARMON that married a Eleanora BUS(C)H from Germany (?) and France(?) Their first child, Mary Ann HARMON, born 1 April 1841 in either RockIsland or Madison Co. IL and then on to MO to travel overland to California in 1846, same year of the famous Donner Party, but split off from them and made it to California 4-6 weeks before the Donners were stranded. My ggGrandfather, Jacob HARMON was one of the first white men to take up a preemptive claim of 160 acres in San Francisco. I have been at the famous "BRICK WALL" with this family for years! I have been unable to get further back than the info I just stated, though rumors have it that Eleanoras' mothers maiden name was CARTER. Is their any possible connection in your records that may help me through the famous wall??
