    3. As I suspected, my INBOX had 95 new emails this morning. Thank heavens for DSL and a very fast computer. I may have to open a new Yahoo email address just for my CARTER list. Well, you asked for it, so here is my CARTER family so far. There is a lot more information on many of the ones in the 1800s which I will be happy to share. I have to thank my cousin, Paul Ross in Indianapolis, for all his hard work helping me find many of these folk. I am presently in a small country village in England and unable to do much library research. Travel and lodging in England is prohibitively expensive and severely limits my research here. My CARTERS from Yorkshire, England to Iola, Kansas: Roger CARTER, b. 8 May, 1595, Helperby, Yorkshire, Eng FATHER: Thomas CARTER MOTHER: Ellen WADE m. 25 Nov 1627, St Michaels, Belfry, Yorkshire, Eng., Emma RAYLES, b. abt. 1597, of Helperby, Yorkshire, Eng FATHER: William RAYLES MOTHER: Abigail HAXUPP, b. abt 1582, Yorkshire, England Nicholas CARTER, b. 4 June, 1629 Helperby, Yorks, Eng., d. 8 Nov, 1681, Elizabethtown, NJ, US Speaking only of Nicholas’ sons Samuel and Nicholas, named below, they are BOTH listed in various on-line sources as the father of Barnabas Carter, b. 1680. There were several Samuel, Nicholas, Benjamin and Barnabas Carters listed in various lists and documents but all are descendants of the Helperby line. The problem is determining who is son/father of whom. Nicholas CARTER, b. 1658, Newtown, New York Children- 1. Barnabas CARTER, b.1680, Elizabethtown, N.J. d. Fulton, Bourbon, KS, m. 28 June, 1842, Vermillion, IN, Martha Elizabeth TULLIS, b. 1818, Clinton, Vermillion IN I have obits and probate records for some of the following, as well as for some of Alpheus’ brothers who lived in Kansas. I have no records for anyone above this point, as I’ve only been able to piece together these names and relationships from on-line census records, other on-line “family records” and various books. I consider everything above here as accurate from Nicholas b. 1741 and speculative before him. I will use the above to find the proper “official” records and make copies for my own files.
