Jo, This is all I have regarding Robert P CARTER. His wife's first name was Catherine and he was a partner with Joseph W CARTER in general merchandise in Culpeper County VA in 1823. I do not know whether Joseph W. was his brother, Joseph, who married the OGLESBY sisters and eventually moved to KY, or perhaps a cousin. But searching records around this time for Joseph W might give you more information on your Robert P. Just a thought which you may already have pursued. Lynn Marion
