I don't mind if no emails come through for a week or so. I'm still joined and when someone DOES join the list or mail a message, I look out in the hope my SUSSEX connection will make a mention. My only disappointment I have with the list is most postings are for American families, and I have no interest in that. This is of course totally personal and not a reflection on the list! My ancestors came from Sussex and migrated to Australia. If neither of those are mentioned in the message, I delete it. For my opinion, the CARTER list is still valuable. It isn't that the list isn't relevant or out used its usefulness. I think it is more that people have many more alternatives these days and may not want to be a part of the email swapping format. I don't recommend cancelling the group. Just an Aussie's opinion. Lynette Begg P.O. Questions regarding the Status of the following family discussion groups: CARTER Family Disucssion Lists HARDIN Family Discussion Lists WALLACE Family Discussion Lists These lists, when I formed them 10 years ago (in 1996) used to be very active. As of late, I rarely see any traffic and don't think there has been a message in weeks. Is it worthwhile keeping these lists active? Have they become obsolete with the advent of the web based message boards of a number of years back and should they be closed down? Even I am not as active in the day to day use & management of these family lists as I used to be. I'm asking because I need your opinion. Please don't be shy, your participation is needed. When I initially started on my journey tracing my family background, ancestors, etc, I found these lists very helpful in my endeavors. Have they out lived their usefulness?
