I think it means that people right now aren't actively researching their Carter line. I still subscribe to this list. Sometimes it is active. It only takes one question to start it moving again. My Carters were in Halifax County, NC, from about 1750 to 1820 when they moved to Sumner County, TN and Allen County, KY. Right now I am not actively researching my Carters but another line. I read every Carter message just in case it pertains to my line. A couple of other Lists that I am on are involved in the DNA testing, which has increased the emails. With the Carters, the DNA part is on another List. gayle braswell ellison ----- Original Message ----- From: <deliaesther@att.net> To: <CARTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2006 6:13 PM Subject: Re: [CARTER-L] [ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE] Checking & Testing......... > Hi all, > What Mr. Colby says is correct, Rootsweb does not close down mailing > lists. > > I run 4 Rootsweb lists myself and I find that a lot of lists I am a member > of(which are many) or I run are slow often, that does not mean they are > not useful there are always times when things pick up some. > > God bless, > Beth > > > > -------------- Original message from "Ronald Colby" > <rmcolby@micro-net.com>: -------------- > > >> Rootsweb doesn't close lists >> >> >> ----- Original Message ----- >> From: "Chuck Carter" >> To: >> Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2006 5:12 PM >> Subject: [CARTER-L] [ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE] Checking & Testing......... >> >> >> Questions regarding the Status of the following family discussion groups: >> >> CARTER Family Disucssion Lists >> HARDIN Family Discussion Lists >> WALLACE Family Discussion Lists >> >> These lists, when I formed them 10 years ago (in 1996) used to be very >> active. The post that came through my e-mail just before yours about the Giles Carter family might be worth checking. Halifax Co NC is next to Edgecombe.
