My brickwall is Wiley J Carter born in Lincoln Co TN in 1837. I am told that he came to Alabama from Missouri but I have searched the Missouri census for 1850 and 60 and can find no record of him there. I have seen the name Hiley Carter in some records and wonder if there may have been an error in the spelling. My Wiley Carter went by the name W J in his later years and died in 1910.
