    1. [CARTER-L] Joseph Carter KY

    3. One of the problems is that there are SO many Carters in VA and KY!!! If you look at James, Henry, Joseph, William and Richard (all found in my Carter names): 1820 KY Some, but not all Joseph: Shelby Co p 156, Garrard Co p. 83A, BRK (Breckenridge?)Co. p 245, Bath Co Joseph p 180, Joseph Jr. p 190 James: Barran Co p 6, p.7, Madison Co p 166 Henry: Owen Co P 101, Henry, Esq, p.105, Barran Co p5 William: Madison Co p.118, Barran Co p5, Garrard p 85A Richard: Shelby Co p 127A, BRK p. 245 It would seem the Barran County group would be most likely candidates since there are Lucketts found in that area. Those looking in Tennessee (Kit are you there??) should not that Barran County is near the Tennessee border in South KY. Barran Co Carters include in 1820: George, Henry, 2 James, Phillip, william, and Landon.
