    1. [CARTER-L] Dead Carter Line
    2. Guess I will join the party on putting out the missing link Carter's. Also, has anyone on this list considered the Brigham Young University's project of mass DNA collection? They are doing it free. My Carter wall: William Carter (possibly named William James Carter) b. 1806 VA. According to biographies on his son, William's father's name was James and James was of english ancestry and a native of VA. James brought William to TN as a young child (guessing here but had to be from ca 1806-1816) to unknown location in TN. It is known that William lived in Rhea County, married there, and his 4 children were born there. Can't prove it, but I suspect there was a doctor in the Carter line. 2 of William's 3 sons became doctors. William is known to have had a brother named Joseph that moved to MO prior to 1851. Common names in this Carter group: William, James, Charles, Leonidas, Landon, Elizabeth, Ruth, Joseph, Edward. I feel that any of these names, with the exception of Ruth, were of the Carter line that William descended from. In fact, it was by the repeated use of Charles Leonidas that I found the eldest son of William and his descendants in MO. Definitive proof was found and the lines tied together. Still in a holding pattern here!
