My gggrandfather's name was ELIxander Carter vs. the typical Alexander carter
Oh how I wish I HAD some odd first names to work with! James, John, Joseph....groan. Solomon Carter seems to be the only name that might give me any significant clues. I was following the name "Squire" Carter because of a geographical connection. Found out that wasn't such an odd name after all. "Kenyon" Carter (another geographical connection) led me to some clues, enough to decide that his family was probably not connected to mine. Theodrick Carter: I got twelve of them in my tree.
Hi There! I know what you mean with those Carters. I thought Joel Antony was unusual until LDS said many people use Joel as a shortened form of James (Yikes) and Antony is PA Dutch for Anthony. Grandfathers name Norval Erastus (IA) is kind of unusual until you study the fische of Salt Lake City. Now I just verified my people followed the Trail of Tears and the Mormon Trail. Always look for those migration paths.
