I've been looking for clues to a CARTER line for years. Here are my notes on Millicent CARTER: From paper writen by Eileen S. McMorrough: "Millicent Carter, mother of James Ware [Davis], was a daughter of Solomon Carter (Rev. Patriot) and Mary Ann Bickley. Both the Carter and Bickley lines and various branches have been traced back through colonial days and to generations of English roots." Lindsay Clark says she was born in 1761 and married Moses DAVIS in 1809. My great Aunt Barb told me probably 30 years ago that our Carter family was kin to June Cash Carter. Aunt Barb's mother was Jane (Jenie) Carter b. in Sumner County, TN. I found a coy of a typewritten report in an old filing cabinet of mine by Mrs Julian C. Have you looked at the other side of President Carter's family? I believe his mother was also a Carter descendant so the connection could be there instead. At one time, somone had an Isaac listed as my husband's Bailey Carter's father. I suppose it is possible, but can not find any information on Isaac. Theron and all, The Peter and Judith Morris....this is what I have for them Peter Carter and Judith Norris perhaps spelling got mixed up. This Peter is the s/o Thomas Carter, Jr which is my direct lineage. The problem is that I dont have a Morris Carter as a brother to Peter. I discussed that with my mother and she said she is not sure who this Morris was but I am hanging on that one to search further. This is what I have the children of Capt. My Kansas Carters- Sophia (possibly Saphronia)m. Joseph Ross, Humbolt KS, 1908. Her father, Alpheus Carter, d. Iola, KS, 1915. Her uncles, Anderson G. Carter and Isadore Lincoln (Link) Carter died in Fulton, Bourbon, Co. Found graves for Link and some of his family at Zion Cemetery west of Fulton, but no probate records for him in Bourbon Co Courthouse, Fort Scott, KS. Did find probate records for Anderson, but no graves. Also looking for information on their father, (my G-G Grandfather) Abraham Carter, who is listed several places as having died in Fulton, but no probate record or graves found yet.
