    1. Daniel Carter
    2. acottrell
    3. Daniel Carter died in Powhatan County in 1798. Some of his descendants think he was related to the Giles Carter family of Henrico County. Was Povall Carter who died in Henrico County a father or a brother to Daniel? Daniel went to Henrico to testify for Povall along with a Giles Carter. This Giles Carter was believed to be a son of Robert Carter of Cumberland County. Any thoughts?

    3. I am looking for Mary/Margaret/or Mary Margaret (?) Carter b. before 1860 in Texas. She was supposedly married to a Carter and later to an Osborn. She lived during the 1870 near Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas. She supposedly ran an eatery and boarding house on the San Jacinto River. Barges came down the river and stopped there. She lived near the Carter and Isaacks family. This is how she meets Osborn. She had one daughter I know of, a Matilda Alice Osborn b. 1 Feb 1872 in the same area. 3. Hi, Was your Carter a Quaker? My Quakers (Jackson) came down from PA and showed up on the yearly tax list in Loudoun County in 1761. Of course they had documentation from the Monthly Meetings in Abingdon, PA (Montgomery County). I believe Chester Co was a Quaker strong-hold. Quakers have good records... 3. RENEE, For some reason I have her as the daughter of my husband's John Carter & wife Fanny McCutcheon. Mary's marriage I show as October 07, 1831 in Floyd Co, VA. Floyd Co, was formed from Montgomery Co. Click on the following website to get that line of Carters. You will end up at Bailey Carter whose DNA matches the William Carter & Mary Goodloe line, although I still haven't figured out how he connects to them. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=davidwells&id=I0584 It is very unusual that I don't have any notes on someone in my Gedcom. But, I don't see any on Mary & Samuel. I don't know if their marriage stated she was daughter of John & Fanny, or how I found that out. If you find their marriage record in Floyd Co, please let me know so I can make a better note on them in that file. Hope this helps. Kathy Wells. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Renee Harris" <harrisgr27@yahoo.com> To: <CARTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 19, 2006 8:49 PM Subject: [CARTER-L] Samuel CORN=Mary CARTER,Patrick Co.,VA > Am looking for the marriage and parents of: > Mary CARTER, b. abt. 1810, of Patrick Co., Virginia > Married abt. 1831, of Patrick Co.,VA > Husband was Samuel CORN,b. 1810-Patrick Co.,Va.-Died > bet. 1870-1880, of Russell Co., VA(son of John Corn & > Elizabeth Adams) > Children born in Patrick Co.,Va. & Stokes Co.,North > Carolina between 1832 & 1855 were: > Frances, Sarah Ann, John, Mary, X-Jesse A., Joshua > A., Samuel, James H., Sanford M., George & Samuel > Monroe CORN. 3. I agree with you completely! I keep finding Carters, just not my Carter line. I'm searching for Carters in Tennessee, specifically, Jefferson and Anderson counties in Tennessee. My Carters married Kidwells, which have been easier to trace. Henrietta Kidwell (dau of Samuel Kidwell) m. UKN Carter Children: Gibbey Marshall and Samuel Arthur Gibbey married (3) Ada Anderson. Gibbey died in 1958 and Ada in 1977. Both are buried in Anderson Co. TN Children were: Blanie Roxie Frank Charlie Gladys Helen Charlie (my husband) died in 1971. Of course, I didn't ask enough questions before they died. The other children know little to nothing about their ancestry. Someday we'll run into someone who has the missing link!! One request of everyone, please put locations in your emails. If you don't, I'll assume you're just right down the road here in Tennessee! 1. Jesse & Ruth Carter in NC
    2. I have the following fragments of information, and am having a terrible time determining how these people fit together. My ultimate goal is to determine how they're related to my Thornton Carter. This is for Wake County, NC: 1790: Jesse Carter 1800: Jesse Carter, Allen Carter 1810: Allin Carter 1820: wake tax RUTH CARTER THORNTON CARTER 1830: Polley Carter, Thomas J. Carter ESTATES: Jesse Carter, Dec. 1804. Wife RUTH CARTER, son William Carter. RUTH CARTER 1828. Estate papers recite: Thomas J. Carter (Captain Thomas) executor. HEIRS: Ceily Nichols, Mary Carter, Susan Carter, Sarah Carter, Jincy Carter, Rebecca Carter, Sally Carter, son Thomas Carter. My QUESTIONS are as follows: (1) Where does Thornton Carter fit into this picture? (2) How is Thomas J. Carter related to Jesse, Ruth, and William Carter? (3) How are the heirs related to Jesse, Ruth, and William Carter? I have been trying to prove that my Thornton Carter, born in Virginia in 1778, and married in Wake County, NC in 1811, is related to the Captain Thomas Carter line. So far, I haven't been able to figure out who his parents were... Thank you for any information or suggestions! Carolyn

    1. Carter Roll Call-John Carter
    2. My John Carter was born in VA. I have no knowledge of his parents or where in Va he was born. He married Elizabeth Moore in 1813 in Barren Co., KY. By 1920, John and Elizabeth Carter had 3 daughters and one son. They lived in the part of White Co., IL that became Hamilton Co., near other families that had recently moved there from Barren Co., KY. John Carter named his first son James Simeon Carter. James was born 1819 in Hamilton Co IL. Sometime before 1826, the family moved to Island Grove TWP, Sangamon Co., IL where a son, Thomas and a daughter Mary Frances was born. In 1840, they lived in Loami TWP, Sangamon Co., IL near Elizabeth's parents and other family members. James Simeon Carter married Ann Hodgerson Meacham, a widow. They had a total of 6 children only two-Elias Frank and Elizabeth Frances who lived to adulthood. After Ann's death, James married Nancy Ellen Bush Sullivan, another widow. James and Nancy had 3 children Ellen, John Berry and Lou Ada Carter. I have many descendants of James Simeon Carter(also known as Sims Carter) but I am at a brick wall with John Carter b in VA, Margarette Davis
