    3. Seeking information on Andrew J Pittman, born 9-14-1798,Nelson Co Ky. Married 11 year old Elizabeth "Betsey" Nutterfield/Nutterfee,of Shelby Co., Ky., 5-23-1822, in Nelson Co Ky. Also, married Millie Zimmerman, 7-31-1837, Nelson Co Ky... What happened to Elizabeth. Was there a divorce? She married? abt 1830-1833, John CARTER Jr., (Where?), and lived in Owen Co., Indiana, until her death 5-2-1866. Is this the same Andrew J Pittman, who was an early settler in Owen Co., In? There were 2 Andrew Pittmans in early Owen Co., and another just across the river in Monroe Co., In. What is the connection... Any help appreciated. Thanks. Dick Carter [email protected]

    2. Richard Carter
    3. According to the migration schedule, a John CARTER migrated from Spencer Co., Ky., by way of Nelson Co., Ky., before 1840, and settled in Montgomery Twp.,(later Taylor Twp) Owen Co, In. He is found next door to Nancy Nutterfield, whose daughter Eliza, he married about 1830. He had a "Deaf & Dumb" brother Job, born about 1807. Could he be the John Carter Jr., who married in Boone Co., Ky to Elizabeth Carter, in 1829??? Could his parents be one of the following Johns who married in Nelson Co Ky..... John CARTER m Caty Barnett 10-15-1808. John Carter m Nancy Bray, 3-7-1822 John Carter m Mrs Sarah Redman (nee Sarah Murphy, Day of Charles Murphy) 8-19-1815 OR, perhaps JOB Carter, who married Sally WATTS 11-8-1797... Any help appreciated. Thanks, Dick Carter [email protected]

    3. Below your message, I have added my husbands line. It started with Bailey Carter in Spotsyvlania Co, VA, his son was John Carter of Frankin, Montgomery then Floyd co, and then his son Henry Carter was in Floyd Co, VA., and two of his sons, Henry Carter and David V. Carter were in Barren County, KY for many years (see below your message). I believe they went to Barren co, KY because they had cousins there already. I have posted earlier messages trying to get these families connected, but was unsuccessful so far. I know one of the Henry Carter's that was in Barren County in the early 1800s was also from Spotsylvania Co, VA. Does the information below ring any bells? let me know. On Tuesday his body was laid to rest in the Carson cemetery, two and a half miles north of Ector. The deceased was born in Floyd Co., Va., in August 1847. He served in the Confederate Army and at the close of the war he went from Virginia to Kentucky where in 1878 he was married to Miss Annie E. Twyman. In 1881 they came to Texas, and have made their home in this county since. His widow and 2 sons, Emmet and Lorenzo, survive him. For something more than 4 years Mr. Carter had been superintendent of the county farm and had served the county most acceptably in that capacity. No one had ever managed the farm any better than he and it is not probable that a better man for the place can be found. Mr. Carter was a good man & good citizen, a good neighbor. For 30 years he had led a Christian life, having confessed Christ and united with the Christian church in Kentucky. He expressed himself as being ready and willing to go to receive his reward for the deeds done in the body. The influence of his good life will live on while his body moulders into dust. ---- OBITUARY - Another obituary for him reads "Death of Mr. D.V. Carter. Mr. D.V. Carter, superintendent of the county farm died Monday. This is a sad announcement. Mr. Carter was one of our best citizens. He had won the confidence of the public to a wonderful degree by his executive ability in the management of the county farm. 2. John Carter m Elizabeth Moore in Barren Co., KY in 1813. I have a lot of data on Elizabeth's family but nothing at all on John. There were several Carter families in Barren Co in the 1810 census but I have never been able to connect John to one of these families. John was born around 1790 in VA. He left Barren Co around 1818 and went to IL with Elizabeth's parents. They appeared on the 1820 census of White Co., the part of White Co that became Hamilton Co. Other families from Barren Co moved to this Co about the same time. A few years later, John Carter appears in Sangamon Co., IL along with some other family members of Elizabeth. He is recorded as a voter in a few elections and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He is listed in the 1830 and 1840 census of Sangamon Co. Of his children are James S., Thomas and Mary Frances. Three older girls born before 1820. I believe one girl was Rebecca but the other two elude me. I have tried to determine who his parents were if they were one of the families in Barren Co. Does anyone have any information on Carters in Barren Co., KY? early 1880's. Margarette Davis
