Hello List Members, I was a member of this group back in 1999 and made contact with some one that had researched the family of Presley Carter. They had sent me a file and I would like to find that person again. After several hard drive crashes, I lost contact. I have run into a "brick wall" with Wilson Carter. Maybe someone is also researching him and we can exchange info. This is what I know: Wilson Carter - b.ca.1821 - probably AL (Don't know his parents) m-12-24-1843 (1) Elizabeth Fonville Bibb Co., AL (Her father-William Fonville Her mother-Sarah Fancher) He was 22 and she was 15 when married; they had a son Leonida Carter born prior to December 1843. m-ca.1849/1850 (2) Mary _____ in MS (she was b-ca.1831 MS) They had a son-Joseph Carter born ca.1850 in MS. According to 1850 Winston Co., MS Census. I am assuming Mary and Wilson married prior to their son's birth; however, I do not know when Elizabeth died. Wilson was appointed guardian of Leonida in 1852. At this time he was in Starkville. Leonida/Leonidas is mentioned in his great-grandfather's (Richard Fancher) will as a child of Elizabeth Carter. Richard J J H Fonville married in 1843 to Thursa/Thiresa Carter - was she a relative to Wilson? Paula pfancher@vcmails.com

Jeremiah Carter and Mary (unknown)
In our local antique shop (Clyde, Ohio) there is a framed needlework, done by Laura Carter in honor of Col. Carter of Virginia. Evidently he was killed in the Civil War in 1864. There is a picture of him in one corner, dressed in his uniform. There is also a poem. Does anyone know of these Carters? Lynda
I read your letter and I am a Carter descendant, and I have looked for years for them with no luck, can you send me the researcher address and I can ask for assistance, thank you, Neina Lang

I have a female, Salathia (not a Carter, her granddaughter and William Collingsworth Carter were my greatgrandparents). She was a generation older than your Salathiel. I would love to know the source as well. Elaine Oakes > I'm interested in the name "Salathiel." My great grandmother, Julina > CARTER JONES DICKERSON RUSK, had a brother, Salathiel. I'm interested in the name "Salathiel." My great grandmother, Julina CARTER JONES DICKERSON RUSK, had a brother, Salathiel. They were the children of Sarah and James CARTER. Salathiel was born May 5, 1816, in Virginia, so don't know if this is your Salathiel. I'm so interested in the name because I can't imagine from what the name was derived. I don't recall anything in the bible that would suggest such a name. His siblings were Eden, Samuel, Washington, Julina, Sarah Jane, James and Alfred Gibson. John
