Image 503 [Original will signed by testator] In the Name of God Amen I Samuel Carson of London Grove Town Ship in Chester County and Province of PenSilvania Cordwander, being Sick of Body, but of Sound mind and Memory do make and Order this my Last will and Testament, in ye form and Manner following -- first I Resigne my Soul to God Who gave it me, And my Body to ye Grave to be Buried at ye Discrestion of my Executor Nothing Doubting but that I Shall Recieve the Same by ye Mighty Power of God at ye Resurection. Given under my hand and Seal this twenty Eighth Day of August One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Six 1766 Samuel Carson (Seal) Signed Sealed Published and Pronounced in Presence of Morris Thomas } David Wiley } Nathaniel WallaC } [DT note: there was a tiny handwritten illegible note to the right of the witnesses signatures.] Image 504 [Probate of the will] Chester October 16th. 1766 Then personally appeared Morris Thomas and David Wiley and on their Oaths on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God did depose and say that they were personally present and did see and hear Samuel Carson the Testator within named, Sign Seal Publish Pronounce and Declare the within writing as and for his last Will & Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of a sound and well disposing Mind & Memory to the best of their Understandings Sworn before HH Graham D Regr [DT note: Other than the will there were two small inventories and appraisements of Samuel Carson's property taken by Morris Thomas and Richard fflower on 25 Sep 1766 and 20 Nov 1766. The property included a 95 acre plantation, a few horses, cattle, sheep, and swine as well as wheat, rye, flax, hay, indian corn, and timothy seed stored in the barn. The estate was owed nearly 27 pounds of "book debt" by unspecified persons. No family members, including the executor Francis Carson, were mentioned except in the will.
