Hopefully someone has come accross this woman and that what I am about to write won't make your eyes glaze over! Here is what I know. Ann Carson married Elias Glenn in St. Georges, New Castle, DE on August 21, 1794. Elias (became a US Attorney in MD) was the son of Samuel & Jane (Barnaby) Glenn of Elkton, Cecil County, MD. From Ann's diary I know a few things about her: 1) she was: "placed at school in Phila with Mrs. Smart on the 17th of June 1780". - so she was probably not from Phila. 2) She was married probably at about age 24 and that (3) she came from a wealthier famiy: "... want some money, have none. ... He (Mr. Glenn) forgets that for twenty-four years of my Life I had every thing I wished or wanted ...". Sheand Elias had 8 children and they were named: John who married Henrietta B. Wilkins; Mary m David M Perrine; Elizabeth Renshaw m Robert Armstrong; Elias Barnaby; Jefferson; Jane; Ann and Wiliam Carson who m Martha Elizabeth Sewall daughter of General James and Mrs Anna Maria (Rudulph) Sewall. Throughout the Glenn family the children seem to usually be named after close family members. John was named for Elias' brother (John Washington Glenn) and maternal grandfather(John Barnaby), Ann for her mother, Elias Barnaby for his father and paternal grandmother's family(the Barnabys ); Jane for her paternal grandmother (Jane barnaby); William for at least his mother's surname (Carson) and I wonder whether his father or grandfather was named William. Jefferson was named for Thomas Jefferson. I am not sure who Mary or Elizabeth Renshaw were named for but I suspect that they also were named for Carson family members. This is pretty much all I know about Ann Carson. Can anyone help on who her parents were? Was she from Delaware? Thanks.
