I am a descendant of the Peck and Carson families as follows: Generation 1: Benjamin Peck m. ___________________ Benjamin Peck came to Boston, Massachusetts, USA, from London during Cromwell's rule (1648 - 1658) Generation 2: Benjamin Peck m. ____________________ Benjamin Peck lived on Pearl Street in New York, New York. Generation 3: Rachel Peck m. Robert Griffith II The Griffiths lived in New York. Robert Griffith II was born in 1730 and died in Rye, Westchester County, New York in 1781. Rachel and Robert Griffith are buried in the Peck Vault. They lived in Franklin Square, New York City. Later they moved to Orange County, New York, to his estate called Griffith Place. His business was shipping, merchant or sea captain. Generation 4: Maj./Col. Benjamin Peck Griffith m. MARY CARSON Benjamin Peck Griffith was born on July 4, 1754 in New York and died April 18, 1809. He was buried on April 20, 1809 at Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. He was a British officer during the Revolution. Mary Carson was born on February 10, 1762 and died on February 1, 1831. Her father espoused the American cause and looked with small favor upon the suit of Benjamin Peck Griffith. However, Mary had a spirit of her own and eloped with her young officer to Rye. She had been lawfully wedded for one half hour when her parents rushed upon the scene. Benjamin's sister Christiana married Cadwallader Colden the son of Col. Cadwallader Colden and grandson of Cadwallader Colden the last Lieutenant Governor of New York during the Colonial Period. Generation 5: Christiana Colden Griffith m. Ralph Ketchum Christiana Colden Griffith was born in 1782 in Woodstock, New Brunswick. Later she lived with her aunt Mrs. Cadwallader Colden in New York until her marriage. In 1807 she married Ralph Ketchum in New York City. Ralph Ketchum was born on January 7, 1780 on Long Island, New York, and was the son of James Ketchum and Sarah Burr Ketchum (a cousin of Aaron Burr). His father was a captain in the West India trade and Ralph was reared in Woodstock, New Brunswick. Ralph and Christiana Ketchum moved to Augusta, Georgia, and then to Mobile, Alabama, where they lived and died. Christiana died in 1861 and Ralph died on April 12, 1852. Both are buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile. Generation 6: The Rev. Richard Colden Ketchum (Presbyterian clergyman) m. Aphra Longstreet and 2nd Sarah Earl Hackett Col. Charles Thomas Ketchum m. Emily Joyce Sims and 2nd Kate Ewing Maria Louisa Ketchum m. Alexander M. Carr Maj. William Henry Ketchum m. Sarah Easton and 2nd Willie Creagh (nee Glover) Eliza Harriet Ketchum m. George Manton and 2nd William Gates Dr. George Augustus Ketchum m. Susan Burton John Ralph Ketchum - Killed in the Battle of Atlanta during the American Civil War.
