Most of the findings so far show that these these families there prior to 1800 were related. The YDNA results match although the paper trails are unclear as to the common ancestor. Some branches went due west to OH/IN and beyond and others went to the Carolinas. Some in the Carolinas and TN moved to OH later and elsewhere. There were Robert Carson lines in Chester PA, Lancaster Co PA and Cumberland Co PA that all connect to my Carson line via YDNA results. I descend from a Robert Carson born c1730 in Lancaster PA who moved south to NC. A descendant of Robert Carson born 1717 in Chester/Cumberland Co PA is a close YDNA match. That Robert had a son named David Carson and a grandson named Robert Carson (who ends up in OH). A William Carson and Thomas Carson line in PA 1730s/1750s also connect via YDNA results to my Carson line (haven't connected the paper trails yet).
