Thanks, Gary These Carson families married in Lancaster PA and moved together to Orange/Caswell and Guilford NC 1760s-1770s: David Carson - Sarah Woods married 1753 Robert Carson - Margaret Woods married 1755 William Carson - Margaret McCord married 1760 Moses Carson - Elizabeth Hannah married c1763 Findings indicate I descend from William and Margaret. My DNA matches exactly with a descendant of Moses also, so these all seem to be either brothers or cousins. In 1754 Lancaster PA, David and Sarah Carson had daughter Mary baptized by Rev. John Cuthbertson. In 1756, daughter Margaret was baptized. David and Robert move to Orange NC by 1766 (it covers all of what is later Orange and Caswell and most of Guilford). William and Moses arrive in Orange by 1775-1778. In 1778, William and David get adjoining land grants on the S. Hyco in what is now Caswell. Moses is in Orange on the S. Hyco on the Caswell county line. Robert had land on the S. Hyco also per other deed entries. In 1779, a Robert Carson was in Guilford on the Belues River. Robert's land is near entries of William Woods (Margaret Wood's brother), Andrew Hannah and John Strain (Woods and Carson in-laws and cousins). In the 1780s, David, William and Moses move to Washington TN. Robert may have moved also or some of his sons might have moved. There were several Roberts near them in TN. Robert is the only Carson I've found in Guilford NC during the 1770s. Six Carson females marry in Guilford during the 1770s (Rebecca 1772, Agnes 1774, Mary 1773, Elizabeth 1774 and Margaret 1779). Mary Carson married James Bell 1773 at Buffalo Presbyterian in Guilford and Elizabeth Carson married Thomas Bell 24 Oct 1773 at the same church (the Bells were brothers). The church was on the Buffalo near the Caswell/Orange county line, so it wasn't far from those Carsons. Thomas Bell died 1790 in Washington TN with Robert Carson witnessing the will. Thomas and Elizabeth named their second son David, and first daughter Sarah, so I suspect Elizabeth was a daughter of David and Sarah. I think Mary was their daughter baptized 1754 in Lancaster PA (she would have been 19yo). Robert could have been Elizabeth's brother or other relative. The bottom line is that I suspect that Margaret who married John Reed in 1779 was a daughter of Robert Carson and Margaret Woods because: -Robert is the only Carson in Guilford at that time. - the dates work (they were married 1755 Lancaster PA). - she was named Margaret and Robert's wife was Margaret. - David and Sarah's daughter Margaret was born 1756...too old. - Moses and Elizabeth Carson didn't marry until around 1763. - William and Margaret Carson didn't marry until 1760, and he refers to "my oldest daughter Jennet" and "second daughter Mary" in his 1790 will in Washington TN, and Mary is still underage. I guess it's possible he didn't mention an older daughter Margaret prior to Jennet although the wording sounds specific. A Gannet Carson married 1793 in Washington TN whom I suspect is actually Jennet, so she might not have been born until around 1770-1775. -The Robert in Guilford is next to Woods, Strain, and Hannah in-laws, suggesting he is one married to Margaret Woods. - The William Carson bondsman could have been Margaret's brother or uncle.
