    1. Re: [CARSON] Thomas Carson Line, Washington Co, PA
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/1310.1.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm assuming you're replying to Jacque's posting from 2003. What was the name of the VA person of interest? I have some related information on the ones moving to NC. The Thomas Carson she mentioned in her posting was born 1740 Scotland died 1816 Washington Co PA. He married Mary Smith in New Castle DE. They had children James b1762, Margaret b1766, Thomas G b1769, Mary b1771, Elizabeth b1775, William b1777, Joseph b1777, Sarah b1779, Lydia b1781, Rebecca b1784 and John Clarkson Carson b1788. One of his descendants is an exact DNA match with me at 25 markers. He indicated to me that they don't know Thomas's brothers or parents for certain. The Carsons from our line who are blood related to Thomas Carson somehow moved from Lancaster PA to NC (Rowan, Orange, Caswell) in the 1760s-1770s. These were Moses Carson born c1737 (married Elizabeth Hannah c1763), David Carson born c1730-35 (married Sarah Woods 1753), William Carson born c1730-35 (married Margaret McCord 1760) and Robert Carson born c1730-35 (married Margaret Woods 1755). They may connect to a William Carson (wife Maryann) who died 1759 in Rowan NC, mentioning brother Robert, cousin William and daughter Susanne (underage)in his will. Some think his cousin was William, father of Lindsey and grandfather of Kit. That was the only known William nearby at the time. The Lancaster bunch may also connect to Alexander Carson (wife Easter, sons John, James, Alexander, Samuel) who died 1775 Orange NC, a John Carson in Orange Co NC 1750s-1760s and an Alexander Carson (wife Margaret, sons Robert, David, Samuel) who died 1792. Moses connects with James Carson (wife Mary, sons David and Robert) also in Orange NC who died after 1800. The latter Alexander and James Carson in Orange may be sons or nephews of the older Alexander. A James Carson who died 1773 Lancaster PA mentioned a brother Alexander in his will (location not mentioned). Gary
