Also, what were his childrens' names? I've been trying to sort of the Davids for some time. My David Carson born 1755-65 (wife Catherine born c1770) was in Washington and/or Greene TN until around 1799, then moved to Buncombe NC. Several of the Carson families in eastern TN 1790s had moved there together from Lancaster PA by way of Orange/Caswell NC. There was 1 David Carson in 1787 Washington Co TN (David Sr. who married Sarah Woods 1753 Lancaster PA). By 1796, there were 4 Davids, then by 1799, there was just one left. Next door in Greene Co TN 1787 a David Carson, John Carson Sr. and widow Sarah were executors of a William Carson's will. Williams refers to David and John in his will as "my well beloved friends" which suggests they were not his sons or brothers. A David Carson appears in 1791 and 1792 Greene TN tax lists. A David appears in Jefferson Co TN 1794-1795 on juries (Jefferson was formed from Greene in 1792). A David appears in Blount juries in 1797 and 1798. A David reappears in Jefferson in 1800 on tax lists. Below are the Washington TN tax lists by year, as best as I can determine from records.
