I paid $189 (plus tax because I'm in Texas) for the 37 marker YDNA test. The 12 marker basic test is about $99 but is less accurate. I did the 37 marker which, if there's a match, indicates a much closer link. The Carson DNA site has a link to the Family Tree DNA service that performs the tests.
