Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DiH.2ACEB/1605.2.1 Message Board Post: Betty, My Carson line was in Washington TN 1780s and later and nearby. They apparently migrated from Lancaster PA 1750s to Orange/Caswell NC 1773-1778 then to Washington county in 1784. This included David Carson and wife Sarah Woods, William Carson and wife Margaret and Moses Carson and wife Elizabeth Hannah. There was an Alexander Carson who died 1792 in Orange Co NC and also a James Carson who died 1806 there. James had sons named David and Robert A. (think it was Robert Alexander). This David was in Washington TN around 1798 (will witnessed there by Moses Carson). There was a James Carson who died 1773 in Lancaster PA who mentions brother Alexander in his will. Do any of these possibly connect to your Alexander in Sullivan County TN? Gary

My Archibald, according to census was born bet 1820-25 in TN, don't know where. By 1850 he was married with 2 children in Attala MS and the name Archibald has been shortened to Arch or Archie in each generation since. He was in LA by 1856, bought land and 4th child born in LA. I made a quick trip to LA and hoped to find some clues, but probate records of 1882 are missing and all records before 1880 are gone, courthouse burned. I believe his first wife Ann may have been a Brown born in AL. I did find a few more clues in other probate records for that. May have to see if I can find someone in MS that can get to the courthouse for research. Bobbie

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DiH.2ACEB/1690.1.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Daniel, Thanks for the reply. I hope you're recovering. I'll also email you on your yahoo address with this message. Your William Carson born c1801 was a son of David Carson born c1760-65 who lived in eastern TN 1790-1799 then in Buncombe/Haywood NC and Catherine Patterson born 1770-1772. I descend from William's brother Samuel Carson born 1804 and Nancy Queen born 1801. David died before 1830 and Catherine was still alive in 1830. David Carson appears to be a son of William Carson who died 1790 in Washington Co TN. William Carson and Margaret McCord married in 1760 Lancaster PA and apparently moved down to NC then to TN with some McCords. Their children were William Jr., David, Robert, John, Jeneat and Mary. Shadrack Carson born c1804 who was in Haywood 1830 was a son of a Robert (David's brother we think...could be a cousin named Robert). Robert Jr. who was in Haywood Co 1817 and Buncombe 1820 was probably another son of Robert's. Robert died around 1820 in TN. David's brother William Jr. may have been the one who died in 1796 Washington TN or one of the other Williams who died 1800, 1804, 1812 and 1818 in Washington TN. David and Catherine's children were Mathew born 1791 TN, Catherine 1795 TN, Ambrose 1798, Virginia Jane 1799, William 1801, Samuel 1804 and 2 more daughters born 1790-1800 and 2 born 1800-1810. Our Samuel went to Coryell Co Texas c1850 but got disillusioned and went back to Jackson NC. He and and Nancy died in Caney Fork. However, most of their descendants ended up in TX or CA except for youngest daughter Ester Jane Carson Parker (Jackson NC) and youngest son Matthew born 1838 who disappears after 1850. Maybe we can share trees and fill out some blanks. Thanks, Gary Carson Texas [email protected]

Gradually, it is getting better and some of my memory loss is correcting itself. Therefore I have not been able to even remember what, where, when, etc. but am coming around slowly but surely. NOW, if I can just remember what all these post-it notes mean that I have stuck on my bulletin board. Apparently we are distant cousins, as James Terrell Carson's father was William...I have the history back to 1745 (if I remember correctly), but have a problem remembering which stack of genealogy that history is located. Anything you can share would be most appreciated, and I will ask my friend to help me find that history of the Carson Family asap. I am compiling whatever information on my family in order to have it for the Carson Reunion, held in Bryson City, NC every other year...2007 being the next one scheduled. If you would l! ike for me to add you to the list to be notified, let me know and I will contact my cousin and add your name, address and phone number or whatever information you want listed. Thanks again, together we will get all this together and hopefully be able to trace the family all the way back to England. My regular email address is: [email protected] It would actually be easier to communicate via that, rather than here on this site. I was born in Asheville (Buncombe County) NC and now live here in GA. Thanks again, Danny Lindsay PO Box 813175 Smyrna, GA 30081-8175
