His sons Joseph and David were born sometime between 1802 and 1815. The dates are mostly inferred from ages in censuses, so they aren't too consistent or reliable. Joseph and David were, I think, only a few years apart, but in different places their births fall in the range given; it is not like one was born early and the other late. -- Thomas M. There were several Carsons (David, William, Moses, Robert, John, Alexander and James) all born c1730s-1740 that seem to connect. David, William, Moses and Robert were married in Lancaster Co PA 1753-1763 then moved down to Caswell or Orange Co NC. Alexander and James in Orange NC apparently connect somehow. David, William, Moses and possibly Robert moved to Washington Co TN (listed as VA initially). 1783-1787 as did some others that may connect. There were several Davids among their sons/grandsons. There was a Samuel Carson in Sullivan TN c1790. Did you find out any more on your VA line? Gary
Thomas, Thanks for the clarifications. The York and Lancaster Carson lines may connect. When were George and Joseph born in York PA? Thanks. I should have mentioned that my George moved to Baltimore sometime before 1820. His sons, Joseph and David, moved to Fairfield in Adams Co. in their old age, and are buried there, though their wives are buried in Baltimore. George got married in York Co. That, plus Joseph and David moving to Fairfield, lead me to believe that George was born in York, although I have no direct evidence on that point. -- Thomas M. Thomas, There are several older George Carson individuals in these areas of PA. A George Carson is in Lancaster 1770-77 records. He is executor of John Carson's will 1777; John Carson's will mentions a son George also, so this older George must be John's brother. A George married 1736 Londongrove, York PA, a George Carson died 1747 Marlborough, Chester PA, a George Carson will 1759 East Marlborough, Chester Co PA (had a son George also). There was a younger George who shows up in 1798 Greene TN and a George in 1826 Buncombe NC (near some of my Carsons). Yours could be the on mentioned 1771 by John Carson in his will (his son). My Great-Grandmother was Mary Jane Carson. She was born Aug 9, 1859 ub Smithfield, Wetzel Co, VA and married Steven Stout about 1890 in the same place. She passed away on the 23rd of September, 1927 in Folsom, Wetzel Co., WVA Her parents are: William Carson who married Merrie Dye in Harrison Co., VA Sept 12, 1850. This is the end of the road on this line for me. I have no information beyond this as where they came from nor when they were born. of course, any information would be greatly appreciated. Lisa, I don't have information on the Westmoreland Carsons. I actually think Margaret McCord's parents were David McCord (died 1758 by Indians) and Jane Lowry. William and Margaret named a daughter Jennet (Little Jane) and a son David. Some claim Margaret moved to Mecklenburg NC and married a Query but I think that was a niece. I think DAvid and William of Lancaster, Orange Washington TN were brothers. They both named their second daughters Mary, indicating both had a mother by that name. William named his oldest known son William. David had a David Jr but there might have been an older son.
