Particularly since I have read in the 1948 issue of Desert Magazine (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:FW-_asgqPYkJ:www.scribd.com/doc/2150200/194805-Desert-Magazine-1948-May death of adeline carson&cd=20&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a)that her first husband tracked George and Adeline Stilts to Mono and subsequently assassinated Mr. Stilts. I also read online that someone had found an Adeline Carson in California 2 years after she was recorded as having died. (http://genforum.genealogy.com/carson/messages/3400.html) I am particularly curious as to whether Adeline and George Stilts were legally married and if Adeline were pregnant at the time of George Stilts' death. Would you have any information pertaining to this? Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Were there any other surnames around James Carson born 1830 TN besides Ward? You might also investigate the first name Armsted of his first son with Hannah Ward as a possible hint. The Carson lines that came to TN (most came from NC/SC/VA or PA prior) name their sons William, David, Robert, James, Samuel, John, Andrew, Alexander, Matthew or George. You'll see Walter and Daniel sometimes. The James first name occurred in branches of my Carson line that came to Orange/Caswell and Guilford/Surry NC 1760s. But it also occurred in almost all of the other lines I've researched. A unique first name is sometimes important. Gary In a message dated 10/4/2010 12:41:20 P.M. Gary, Thank you for the suggestion of investigating Armsted Carson. I will look into that. James Carson's second wife, Mary Ann Gilmore, was born in Tennessee. I think her maiden name was Wadlow/Wardlow. I will do research on that name also. Thank you for your help, Gary. Looking for information about James CARSON, b. 1800 Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA; married to Mary GEER, b. 1810, Cumberland Co., PA. I have recently found an obituary for this couple's second child, Ann Virginia CARSON BALL (1837--1908) that state she was born in Butler Co., PA; Ann died in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA and was married to Nicholas BALL. This couple had seven children: Mary/Molly; James; Arthur C.; Frank; Ellen/Nellie; Harriet/Hattie; and Cora Nancy. Surnrames of spouses of the daughters include: McKee; McClellan; and Montgomery. Ann was a younger sister of my greatgrandmother, Ellen B. nee CARSON THOMSON (1831--1898). Would certainly like to hear from any descendants of this family, or possible connections. Many thanks. I come from a female CARSON and for years been at that brickwall. Annie CARSON, according to Pa. census records, was b. abt. 1794 Pa. and must of died after the 1850 Jefferson Twp.,Allegheny Co. Pa. census but before the 1860 census. She was married Oct. 22, 1818 Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co., Pa. to Henry GREGG. Annie and Henry had 7 children. I think Annie may be related to a Prine CARSON who was married to Henry's sister, Margaret as they lived close to each other in Westmoreland Co. before the 1850 census. By the 1850 census I've also lost Prine and feel he has also died as I do find Margaret and her children still living in Loyalhanna, Westmoreland Co., Pa. Anyone who reads this and can help me find poor Annie's heritage, will be much loved. Thanks, Lona Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
