David was a son of Robert Carson dec'd 1796 Chester Co PA and wife Rachel. The following record in Cumberland Co PA might be the OH Robert (seems to be the only one in that area at the time): 1786 Jan 17 - Mary Wood F&B with ROBERT CARSON, test William Miller of Tyrone Twp. Robert Carson born 1762 Cumberland PA are related to my Robert Carson Carson born 1730s ancestor married Margaret Woods 1755 in Lancaster Co PA. I haven't determined the common Carson paternal ancestor yet. It was possibly the father of his grandfather, Robert 1717-1796 Chester co PA since Robert Sr's will lists David as his only son. Of course my Robert in NC (or TN) might have died before 1796....haven't sorted it out. Gary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Yes, David Carson b. 1741 from Chester County PA did have a daughter Rachel. She pre-deceased him and is mentioned in her father's will (left money to her children). But no... I don't think he went to Ohio. His son Robert did, though. I would love to compare notes. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: RootsLilla Surnames: Carson, Willoughby, Bates, Beatty Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/2863/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have seen many references to the wife of Robert Carson b. 1762 in Sherman's Valley, Cumberland, PA to David Carson. Most show that he married Margaret Bates. Certainly his wife was named Margaret - we find her first name on the gravestone in Union Pisgah Cemetery with Robert's. But what evidence exists that confirms her last name was Bates? Yes, I know their son Samuel had a son named Tarlington Bates Carson. But was he not named after Samuel wife's [Elizabeth Willoughby's] brother Tarlington Bates Willoughby? If you know this family and have some clues, I would greatly appreciate it! While we are at it, any idea who Robert's mother might be? I have a similar problem to identifiying her as Elizabeth Beatty, since the marriage record of David Carson and Elizabeth Beatty says they were married in 1784, while Robert was born in 1762. (http://files.usgwarchives.org/pa/philadelphia/church/2dpresby01.txt) Is this the right David Carson even? If so, he must have been married twice, so who was his first wife? Would love to hear from anyone with insight! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
