I'm always glad to here from a relative tracing the same lines.I've found the same thing where the dates don't correlate to well when you get back as far as the 1700's. I have the same problem on my Cary lineage. I think I grew up not too far from the Carson homestead in the Sheboygan/Fond du Lac, WI area. I'm hoping this spring I can go around with my dad and see if we can locate it's exact location. I found a property map that I'm using. I grew up in the Sheboygan area. Would be nice to learn about the Maine part of things and discover if they were in fact from Ireland. If you find more information please let me know and I will do the same. Author: onley123 Surnames: Bailey, Carson, Tipton, Jeffers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/2897/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for information on my ancestors from Ohio who moved to Kansas and then on to Oklahoma. My Great-grandma was born in Luther, OK before it was a state (1904). It was listed as OK territory on her birth certificate. I have pictures of her parents' head stones and some of her siblings' head stones that are located in the Bristow Cemetery in Bristow, OK. I also have copies of their obits from the local paper. I am looking however for information mainly on her grandfather's side of the family. I have loads of information on her grandmother's side that can be traced all the way back to Robert the Bruce of Scotland circa 1200's through other family members. I am still looking for JOSEPH PINE CARSON's parents and any siblings he may have had. Right now it looks as if he simply came to being in 1836 in Leesburg, Ohio. If you have ANY information that you think may help in my search for the ancestry of JOSEPH PINE CARSON, please let me know. Stephanie A. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: gkcarson Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/1364.2.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Josette, I just posted my notes on County Down graves involving Carson and Maxwell names. I forgot to mention to look further down at all of the Ballyphilip parish graveyards beyond those first ones. There are more Carson graves of possible interest. I think all of the Carson and Maxwell families comping to PA c1720s were Presbyterians at that time. I noticed that some later dated Carson and Maxwell graves in County Down were Church of Ireland rather than Presbyterian (probably more intermarrying by then). The text said most Catholic graves in County Down (and other Ulster countiies) would have been in what are Church of Ireland graveyards prior to 1720, after which Catholic graveyards were usually separate from those and Presbyterian graveyards. I noticed the Hanna/Hannah surnames in County Dwon included both Presbyterian (Scots-Irish origin) and Catholic (usually original Irish) lineages...probably not related closely.
