Author: josettemaxwell Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/1340.2.1.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: While it is documented that Samuel Carson m. Jane Patterson, it is not documented that William was her father although it is quite probable. I would also suggest that the William Patterson d. 1745 most likely would have been the brother of Jane Patterson m. Samuel Carson rather than her father. Samuel Carson remarried in 1757. Last son of Samuel and Jane was Francis b. 1744. Is there any indication of the age of the William Patterson d. 1745? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: josettemaxwell Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/1340.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The line of Samuel Carson is well researched. There is, however, some confusion in the Carolinas between the Samuel Carson line and the John Carson line (John came from Franklin County PA first to York SC then to Rutherford County NC. This John Carson was the son of Walter and Agness Carson of Menallan, Adams Co. PA. There is proof that Samuel Carson m. Jane and Walter Carson m. Agness were blood relatives but not whether brothers or cousins. The names of their children are almost identical. And, two of the children of Walter m. Agnss as well as almost all the children of Samuel m. Jane moved either to North or South Carolina. Samuel was in Chester County by 1724 and Walter by 1729 (tax rolls). I have info on almost all of the children of Samuel and John if anyone is interested. josetemaxwell@bellsouth.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DanielTroublefield Surnames: Carson, Patterson, McNitt, Taylor, Elder Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/1340.2.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Supposedly Samuel Carson of London Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania, was first married to Jane Patterson, daughter of a William Patterson (WP had 1745 will in Paxton, Lancas-ter Co., Pa.) Was just reading over said William Patterson's 1745 will. In it he mentions seven children: Sons Samuell, Frances [Francis], and Robert, and daughters Ann Patterson, Caytron [Catherine] McNitt, Jayn [Jane] TAYLOR, and Marey [Mary] Elder. No wife or other children were named or mentioned in William's will. An Arthur Patterson (possibly a relative) was a witness. The will was dated 23 Sep 1745 and proved on 22 Oct 1745. Executors named were Robert Taylor (son-in-law possibly) and Robert Baker. Witnesses were Robt. Harris, Arthur Patterson, & William McCluer [McClure?]. So unless someone found documentation that this Jayn married a second time after her Taylor marriage, then who was Samuel Carson's first wife? His father was Patrick, his mother was Bridget Quin(n). Patrick moved to Harrisville, Burrilville, Rhode Island. He came by way of New York in 1846, and was in RI by 1850. Any connection? There were few Carsons in Roscommon. In 1856, there were only two Carsons listed in Roscommon, one in Gortgallan, Cloonturskert, the other in (Kelveevin, Castlerea today). In 1901, there was one family in Gortgallan. Today I think there are none. Perhaps we can find a connection. Ray Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I see Strains buried in your post and I'm thinking they could be related to my second great grandfather James Strain (husband of Sarah McMath) And possibly they were linked to the Carsons. Hopefully it will reach you. I've been researching Sarah Ellen Carson as my great-great grandmother. Recently, my father became the "guardian" of the Sullivan Family Bible. Through that, I've discovered that her name was Nancy, not Sarah. Nancy and Mr. Herring had two children - Kelly (June 24, 1885-Oct. 31, 1960) and Walter (May 30, 1891-Dec 21, 1911) She married James H. Sullivan second. I only know of their son Samuel L. Sullivan (my great grandfather). I hope this helps. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: BWooll Surnames: Carson Finley Kerr McCormick McCreight Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/744.3.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Debi, I have a good bit of data that Mom acquired by communicating mostly with her 3rd cousin Floy McCreight. Floy's grandmother was Isabella Jane "Jennie" Carson, the daughter of William Gilmore Carson. He and Ebenezer Carson, our g-g-grandfather, were brothers and their father was Wilson Carson. Some of Floy's papers indicate that these two brothers had several other brothers that never married. I did some more looking this week and have found many connections -- too much data to show here. For the benefit of other comments in this chain - (Jean) I found Maggie with Wm & Phileana Mccormick in El Dorado, California in the 1870 Census; I have not discovered how they are related. Thank you for that information. (taarcangel) I saw that you had corrected the nearly-illegible Ancestry record to show Almyra instead of Clarissa-Good. (Linda) Please let me know where the "Kerr" comes from in Elizabeth Finley's name; and, yes, she is the wife of William Gilmore. I did not find a connection to Catharine, either, but that IS our Ebenezer in Kosciusko County as you thought. (Marguerite) The names that you found in the 1880 Census in Woodford, Illinois are the five single brother's and sisters that I mentioned above. And the three nephews and one niece in the household are the children of my g-g-grandfather Ebenezer. I have no record of Ebenezer's death (does anyone?). Debi, I don't recall seeing any references to Ralph or Leslie. I wrote you through Ancestry but guess you didn't get it. I am just about to stop the genealogy project(s) for the summer but I do have several documents that I'd love to share with you. Please write me ASAP using my "firstname" at "mylastname" decimal com.
