I had some emails with a Betty Carson. Her male Carson relative did a YDNA test a couple of years ago and was in the R haplogroup.  A descendant of the David Carson in Washington Co VA c1780s is in the R group also.....that line went to KY. So far all descendants of Carson ancestors in Washington Co TN nearby are I haplogroup and share a common Carson ancestor. They are not related to the R group. The I haplogroup Carson  ancestors were in PA Chester Lancaster Cumberland Fayette and Washington counties 1740s. Branches of the I group were in western NC Rowan Orange Surry Guilford Buncombe Macon Lincoln Iredell Wilkes counties, in Chester 96th and Pickens SC, in VA, Hardin KY, Seneca OH, Northern GA etc. The R group also shows up in western NC, western PA, and I think VA.
