    3. I had some emails with a Betty Carson. Her male Carson relative did a YDNA test a couple of years ago and was in the R haplogroup.  A descendant of the David Carson in Washington Co VA c1780s is in the R group also.....that line went to KY. So far all descendants of Carson ancestors in Washington Co TN nearby are I haplogroup and share a common Carson ancestor. They are not related to the R group. The I haplogroup Carson  ancestors were in PA Chester Lancaster Cumberland Fayette and Washington counties 1740s. Branches of the I group were in western NC Rowan Orange Surry Guilford Buncombe Macon Lincoln Iredell Wilkes counties, in Chester 96th and Pickens SC, in VA, Hardin KY, Seneca OH, Northern GA etc. The R group also shows up in western NC, western PA, and I think VA. I can't dispute this, but my impression was that he had been a Presbyterian preacher in Kirkcudbright, Dumphries, Scotland. I show Samuel Carson (b. 1712 N. I am so confused beyond that. How many Samuels preceded him? The names for the wives are so close and there is so much conflicting information. Also, it appears that Walter (mentioned above) served in the Revolutionary War, but then I locate things that seem to make me think I have the wrong one. There also seems to be some argument in 2001 on the actual existence of Alexander Harvey Carson of Scotland.Has anyone found anymore documentantion since that point? I am just very curious. 3. I am moderator of this mailing list. I like to see names and dates posted for queries. I requested this yesterday. Like G Carson I could not find your tree. You may email me directly marilynbess1939@gmail.com I have had three direct male descendants of Samuel Carson of Cortland county, NY tested. We are now doing a variety of descendants on 23 andMe and FTDNA. The Corlett are more of interest to me than the Carson line right now.
