Their son James (Jim) Austin Carson was my Grandfather, he had five sisters and five brothers. Sisters named Myrta, Mary, Bessie,Jessie and Belle (whom I am told I look like)his brothers names were Bob, Emmet, Albert (Sandy) and Bill. I have a family picture of them that was taken in 1900 in Pocahontas, Iowa. My Grandmother Hattie who was James wife told me often that we had family in Washington state. She and her sister Lilly traveled many times to visit there. I have a record that says Myrta May Carson (Lauderman) was born 1878 and passed on 1951. But my brother and I have done several different DNA tests and we are closely related to McClain, McClure, McLauglin, Beattie/Beaty/Beatty, Ramsey McCord, etc. I don't find all these names in our tree (yet), but the DNA connects us. I found Colonial tax records from Lancaster County, PA from 1771, 1772, 1773, 1779 and 1782...and all those family names were living near one another. Has anyone in this group had a male do a Y-DNA test done? My brother (Carson) is R1b1a2. We might need to go back across the ocean to find the common link, but it would probably be in Ireland (County Down) or earlier in Scotland. Judy Carson Ackerman- Edmond, OK Truthseeker68@gmail.com. I can't tell what years but all are in long dresses and the pictures are on cardboard. Would love to see the picture of Hester as her son was my Grandfather, Robert Roy. I'm sure some of the pictures are of Carson's as my Grandfather was close with his family even in Oregon with the Benjamin Rush Carson family. All of Pleasant's sons were named after Revolutionary War heroes. His father must have been in the Revolution. We are not related to Kit Carson according to the Carson DNA Project at Ancestry.com. 1. [CARSON] Obit of Dr. George T. Carson 1913
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: MaryRunyonHanshew Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carson/2933/mb.ashx Message Board Post: >From the Chatsworth Plaindealer Chatsworth,Livingston,Illinois DR. GEORGE T. CARSON MAY 2, 1913 Dr. George T. Carson died at the Chatsworth hospital, of which he was the proprietor, on Friday evening last, April 25, shortly before six o'clock. His health had been gradually breaking for several months, and although he had continued to practice his profession, he had complained to his friends and associates for several months past that his physical condition was anything but pleasing to him. He took to his bed on April 11, and his death occurred exactly two weeks later. Everything that the medical profession could do was done to save his life, and even up to the day of his death, some of the physicians who had studies his case, gave out hopes for his recovery. George T. Carson, was born on July 2, 1860, at Arthur, Canada. He spent his boyhood days in Buffalo, N.Y., and it was in that city that he received his early education. He came west and entered Rush Medical College, in Chicago, and graduated from that institution in 1896. Soon after his graduation he came to Chatsworth and located here for the practice of his profession. After being here about five years, he started the Chatsworth hospital, of which institution he remained proprietor until his death, and which he had made a success entirely through his own efforts and management. Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Carson, one son, John Harvey, both of this city; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Grace Thompson, of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. C.H. Felthousen, of Buffalo, N.Y.; and three brothers, William, James and Frank. The funeral services were held at The Grand on Monday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonic order, the opera house being incapable of accommodating the hundreds who desired to attend the services. Rev. J. Harvey Gunn, pastor of the Baptist church, officiated, assisted by Rev. H.F. Sohreiner, pastor of the M.E. church. Every seat in the theater was filled, the aisles were crowded, and a couple hundred people remained upon the outside. The funeral cortege was lengthy, the remains having the Masonic escort followed by the members of that order, members of the Elks lodge of Pontiac, members of the local order of Royal Neighbors of America, members of the Modern Woodmen of America, and neighbors and friends. Interment was at Chatsworth cemetery. The following out of town physicians attended the funeral: Dr. E.H. Fitzpatrick and Dr. John Schouler, Pontiac; Dr. N.M. Otis, Fairbury; Dr. M.V. Gunn, El Paso; Dr. Pressler, Cullom; Dr. Barnhizer, Forrest; Dr. Boshell, Melvin. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [CARSON] CARSON surname
    2. Hello Josette and Listers: I believe we have corresponded before about the Carson surname in Franklin and Cumberland counties, PA. My great-grandfather Robert Thomson (1815--1883) born and died in Allegheny Co., PA, was married to Ellen B. Carson (1831--1898). Ellen was born in Butler Co., PA, according to her death certificate, but was raised in Allegheny Co., PA, Allegheny City. Robert was the fifth child born to James Thomson (1772--1847) born in Lurgan Twp., Cumberland Co., PA/ now Green Twp., Franklin Co., PA. James migrated into western PA, Ross Twp., Allegheny Co., PA with wife Nancy Wright (b.c. 1776--d.c. 1815) in March 1807 where James was a sicklemaker by trade. Ellen B. Carson's parents were James Carson (1800, Carlisle, PA--1875, Old Allegheny, Allegheny Co., PA) and Mary Geer (1810 Cumberland PA--1885 Old Allegheny, Allegheny Co. PA. Both are buried in the Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA, with Robert Thomson and his wife Ellen B. nee Carson Thomson. These dates of birth and death are taken from the archives of the Allegheny Cemetery. [NOTE: This couple's fifth child, my maternal grandfather was Richard Barkley Thomson (1875--1931, born and raised in Allegheny Co., PA). The "Barkley" middle name for Richard was undoubtedly a family name passed on, but my Mother never knew from which side. Have always wondered if Ellen's middle initial "B" stands for Barkley, and if it is from the Geer side of the family.] I have been at a dead end for years on who James Carson's (1800--1875) parents and siblings were, as well for his wife Mary nee Geer Carson (1810--1885). Am willing to share what I have about these families, and would so appreciate hearing from anyone with further details about the CARSON GEER THOMSON and WRIGHT families in Cumberland or Franklin Cos., PA. Marybeth Corrigall northeast Ohio acmbjc@aol.com ========================================================================================== Would greatly appreciate it if you could look for the surnames Maxwell and Carson. How early are we talking about? My Maxwells/Carsons left the area by circa 1790. Would also apprciate your looking for Andrew Morrison and his wife whose name may be Helen. Died circa 1830. I found more information on a major cluster of Carson, Reid, Strean/Strain, Woods, Mitchell, Richey, Bell and other families 1690s-1750s at First Presbyterian Killyleagh, County Down Ireland (baptisms and marriages). These were the surnames that were in Lancaster Co PA 1740s-1770s and intermarried and migrated together to NC 1760s-1770s. My ancestors were named Robert Carson - Margaret Woods (dtr of William Woods) who married 31 Oct 1755 in Lancaster Co PA. The Woods, Carson, Hanna, Mitchell, Strain families intermarried and migrated to NC 1760s and intermarried with Reid/Reed and Bell families from PA also. There was a Robert Carson baptized 30 Jan 1719 (son of William Carson) and Margaret Woods baptized 3 Aug 1728 (daughter of William Woods) in Killyleagh. I don't know if these are my ancestors or not yet but they match. I also found Andrew Hanna/Hannah baptisms 1698 (son of John), 1728 (son of William) and an Elizabeth Hanna 1732 (dtr of Andrew Hanna). In Lancaster Co PA, Andrew Hanna dec'd 1759 (wife Elizabeth) had children named Samuel, Elizabeth, Mary,Isaac, and Matthew per his intestate records. Daughter Elizabeth Hannah married Moses Carson (brother or cousin of my Robert Carson) c1760. William Woods II (Margaret's half brother) married Mary Hannah. John Strean/Strain born 1757 PA was a son of Rev. John Strain and Elizabeth Woods. and other Strean baptisms and marriages in Killyleagh c1700-1750s - James Strean, Samuel Strain, Robert Strean, William Strean, Hugh Strean (multiples of each name). In PA/NC, David Mitchell married Elizabeth Woods, Margaret Woods' sister, and Samuel Woods (Margaret's brother) married Mary Mitchell. I'm still researching to determine if these are "my" Carson/Woods and related families/lineages. Gary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
