Robert lived in Green and Jefferson Counties TN circa 1783 and died in Warren County 1843. There was a post on the DNA page I think from you that was inquiring about a David Carson who married a woman whose last name was Paterson? The Robert I descend from married a Elizabeth Paterson in NC, possible brothers going on here? You can learn all about my Robert from the PDF file I have with him on my tree. I think you administer the DNA Carson project and was wondering are there any Carsons whose pedigrees seem to fit my Robert? I found a male 4th cousin to do the DNA for my Warren line, awaiting the results from that now. Email me directly please buds@tnsalvage.com. The same goes for anybody ordering from any other commercial site . Also (unless they've changed) Ancestry only reports values for 31 of the first 37 YDNA markers that are considered by DNA experts as important for comparison purposes. I found that out when a cousin of mine from another surname line ordered a YDNA test from them. When he sent me the results, I noticed the 6 missing markers. To get the other 6 markers would require buying an upgrade. Gary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. William Gilmore Carson was the son of William Carson Jr. (1776-1846) and Margaret Beattie Carson (my 3rd Great Grandparents). William (Jr) parents were William Carson and Isabella Gilmore Carson (my 4th GG). Another one of their sons was James Carson who married Jane Kerr Carson (my 2nd GGrandparents). I think I just made that confusing. By your husband's ancestor, William Gilmore Carson was the brother to my 2nd GG James....so before that, we share the same CARSON ancestors...after that, we become cousins. My older brother had his Y-DNA tested for the CARSON surname and he is R1b1a2 (M269). His Y-DNA shows a lot of matches to McCain, Ramsey and other surnames (not just Carson...but there are a lot of marriages into those families within our ancestor's lives. That should show up in our Family Finder or autosomal dna...but interesting that it shows up in the Y-DNA. Kerr is another name linked to my line of Carsons. Jane Kerr's mother's maiden name was Finley....and there are lots of Carson "cousins" who ended up with either Kerr or Finley as middle names. Did you receive my family relationship chart that I sent out by e-mail? I will see if I can attach it to this message...if not, I will probably need your e-mail. His ancester is William Gilmore Carson (1808-1890). His wife was Elizabeth Finley (1817-1860). Their children were Mararet, William Finley, Mary Elizabeth, Samuel Kerr, Isabella Jane, Leonidas Wilson, Sara Jane, James Thomas, Rebecca Alice, Ebenezer Cyrus, Ira Calvin. Their pattern of naming after parents and grandparents and siblings makes me think that William (1745-1829) and Isabella Gilmore (1747-1811)are William Gilmore Carson's grandparents. I think Kerr is a family surname also but don't know the connection? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Research on Charles before this time shows no results. Charles death certificate (d.22 Sep 1930 in Philly) indicates he was born in England 19 Sept 1855. He does not show up in any US census prior to 1880 when he, Philomena and daughter Lillie (Elizabeth) appear in Philadelphia records. Any info on this Charles would be greatly appreciated. She the dau of JAMES GILMORE JR 1753 - 1822 and Martha Ann McElwee 1763 - 1820. She married William Carson 1780 - bef 1850. Martha is listed on the Pulaski 1850 Census but he isn't. Is he buried in Gilmore Cemetery?? The 1860 Census lists her living with Jefferson Gilmore in Dist 1 Pulaski Co. Is he a nephew???? The 1870 Census lists her living with CYRINEONS W. CARSON b 1825 in Dallas, Pulaski, Kentucky. He doesn't appear on previous census'. Is his name spelled correctly?? Is he her son, nephew? Two trees on ancestry list him as a son. The 1880 Census doesn't list her, so she may have died after 1870. I have more questions than answers; any answers to them will be appreciated! Uriah Carson married Mary Cook. There has been no confirmation of the William, and Mary Ballard was a mistake published in a book a long time ago.
