So here goes....My grandfather was Charlie Carson who was named after his father Charley Carson. His father's name was Harry Carson who was brought to Georgia from Abbeville, South Carolina by his owner Martin H. Carson and his wife Hepsebeth Carson. His siblings were Samuel who died of spinal carson in the 1880's, Elizabeth, Mary A, Edmon, Lucinda, and Sousanna (Susanna). They lived mostly in Banks County until probably the late 1880's when they moved to Franklin County. This is just the early Carsons. My grandfather Charlie's siblings were Belle, Marvin, Willie (Willie was also known as James as per the 1910 census and he along with his brother and sister were fathered by a white man but by same mom) Addie (not sure who her mom was), Annie, Irene, Berdie, and John. This is just a little information. I hope that you will find this helpful. Valeda

He is the brother of my Sheriff William Carson. William's parents were John Daniel Carson (1730-1790 ca) and Mary McFarland (1731-1802 ca). I do not believe they are the family you were referring to.
Patricia As far as I know my ancestors did not immigrate to the US. The left Ireland for Scotland then only a few immigrated to Canada. If I find that there is a US connection I will let you know. At any rate, I will need dates and places in order to confirm the relationship of brothers between my Walter Carson, and your William Carson. The only William P. Also, could you send me that list of brothers and sisters, as well as their birthdates, that you were able to transcribe from that Bible?

I have your family in my database, but I have as yet to figure out how William Carson Sr. (1802-1870, your progenitor, and married to Lydia Crawford) was related to my Walter Carson (1758-1834). Born in York co., PA, Walter and family moved to Camden district, SC in 1780; they moved again to Rutherford co., NC ca 1781, where they left part of their adult family; and one last time Walter and part of his family moved on to Jennings co., IN in 1815. So it seems there are several connections, it is 'simply' a matter of tracing them down and documenting them.

His son was my GG-Grandpa-William Thomas Carson, a very famous blacksmith (wife: Harriett Oxner Carson). His son was my G-Grandpa-John Lewis Carson (wife: Arzelia (Dellie) Carson. One of their daughters, Nora, married my Grandpa-David R. Lindsay of Bryson City, NC. I have many pictures and more history, but it must be typed over as my copy was from a copy 5 times over!! Hey this William Carson would be about the right age to be the father of my Margaret Carson who married John Reed in Guilford Co. A William Carson signed the surety bond. Do you have any one in your data that might be this Margaret? Patricia

Carson to our Carsons but he could very well be. The name Samuel appears in my family repeatedly starting with Samuel Carson (middle name probably John) by 3g grandfather born 1804 in Buncombe NC (son of David and Catherine Carson) who married Nancy Queen. I think Samuel was probably named after an uncle or other relative. Our David Carson family was in eastern TN (Washington Co most likely) from the 1780s until 1799, then moved east into Buncombe NC by 1800. > >Many of the Carsons in TN seemed to start off in eastern TN (arriving 1780-1790) in Washington/Greene counties. The earliest names we found in Washington and Greene Co TN in the 1780s were Samuel, William (Sr Jr and at least 1 more), David (Sr Jr and 2 others), John (Sr and Jr), Robert Carson (Sr Jr and one more), Moses, Andrew and James. The challenge is that these Carsons seem to be related and they also named their sons the same names, so there are multiples (tough to sort out). > >Our David Carson was possibly the son of the William Carson who died in Washington County TN 1790 leaving a widow named Margaret (David administered the estate). David apparently had a brother named Robert (the father of Shadrack Carson born c1805) because, when Robert died in TN around 1820, his son Shadrack was sent to Haywood Co NC to live with a relative (David was the only Carson household in that county other than his son Matthew). Washington County road order records in 1790 indicate that David and Robert were sons of William, and we know that our David was related to a Robert. I think that the William Jr. who died in 1796 (leaving a widow named Ruth) may be their brother. David and Robert provided security for his estate. > >What part of TN was your Samuel W. Carson from?
