Very interesting - as there is a guy I graduated with in 1955 from Americus, Sumter Co, GA by the name of MORRIS SMITH - have known him all the years for school 1-12 & have seen him recently at AHS Reunions....... Never thought to question if he might have had CARROLLs in his ancestry - but I wasn't doing genealogy 'way back - sad to say! His son did appear on TV a good bit - even nationally about 2 yrs ago, when Americus was hit by a tornado in Mar. when the Sumter County Regional Hospital was wiped out by that destructive storm - The miracle was that none was killed in the Hospital, all were evacuated, but near there 2 others were killed..... His son was the Sheriff of Sumter County - & far as I know still is.... I will not be on line from today until about June 14 - so if you reply, I may not see it, but had thought of writing since those first notes... Regards, Sarah H.
