I have very little info on my Carroll family. Elizabeth Carroll married John Monahan and first appeared 1871 in Needham, MA. According to family stories, Elizabeth came from Ireland with her mother and siblings, her father had passed away in Ireland. Her mother and siblings moved on to the midwest while Elizabeth remained in Mass with John. It is believed that they went to Carroll Iowa. My cousin tells me that relatives that had gone to visit them came back saying that everything in the town had the Carroll name. I don't know the mother's or siblings names but John and Elizabeth's first daughter was named Margaret and their second son was named Matthew. Other children's names were John, Charles, Elizabeth, Lawrence, James, and Thomas. It is believed that Elizabeth came from Waterford, Ireland. Barbara
