James CARROLL died in Cresco, Iowa on 30 Sep 1898; he was 79. Buried in Calvary Cemetary, Cresco, Howard Co, Iowa. On 5 Jan 1857 when James was 37, he married Jane DUNNIGAN*, in Janesville, Rock Co, WI. Born in Jun 1830 in County Meath, Ireland. Jane died in Cresco, Iowa in Aug 1900; she was 70. Buried in Calvary Cemetary, Cresco, Howard Co, Iowa. {NOTE: Family records have said that Jane Dunnigan's surname was DONOVAN. Another researcher has found the following marriage and subsequent baptism record for James Carrroll and Jane Dunnigan in St. Patrick's Church, Janesville, Rock Co, WI, which is where James Carroll can first be documented in America: " I just looked through information I got St. Patrick's Church in Janesville this summer. In their marriage records I find a James Carrell marrying a Jane Dunnigan on 5 Jan 1857. Witnesses were Nicholas Dunnigan and Mary McGraw. In the baptism records there is a John Carroll, son of James and Jane Dunnigan, born 8 Oct 1857, baptized 1 Nov 1857, sponsors Nicholas and Mary Dunnigan." Looking for information on Robert Carroll born in Guelph Canada in 1850. He has two brothers that I know of, Simon and George. In 1871 he was in Sarnia Canada and married to Abigail Scarth. They later had two sons, Robert and William Carroll. Thanks, Richard Carroll
