    3. http://ccgs.westgeorgia.org/carrollhist.htm Take a look at this site listed above. I think both counties may have been named after the same man. See what you think. You may get some other replies on the list to help you there. Carroll County, MD was named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton (1737-1832). I have no POPE in my Carroll database. Charles Carroll of Carrollton was born and died in MD. He only had one son, also Charles (1775-1828). He also was born and died in MD. Charles II, did have a daughter Elizabeth but she died in 1842 and married a man named TUCKER anyway. Charles II had two sons that lived to adulthood, but only one son, Charles III (1801-1862), had any daughters, and none were named Elizabeth. I have three others named Elizabeth Carroll, but they do not fit either. Questions: Carroll County, GA may just have been named after CCC and possibly neither he nor his descendants were ever there. Do you have any proof that his descendants were in GA? Can we assume that Elizabeth was born about 1828? Do you have any additional info on her husband Anderson J. POPE....born .... date and place? Siblings, parents? I have several more sources to check with, plus another person who has also done some research on Charles Carroll of Carrollton. I will work on this and get back with you.
