Eunice, Thank you for responding. I have seen a record of a Benjamin (your John's brother) in Granville County, NC who married Charity Bonner in 1770, but I did not know where they settled. It has been believed that my Major Hardy Carrell of Stokes County, NC was the son of Alexander Carrell of Sampson County, NC. I am beginning to wonder if that is true. I can find on proof, and there were Carrolls already in the area of Stokes. I am trying to learn if they might have been related to Alexander, and Hardy may have gone to Stokes as a young man to live with and uncle or other relative. He married in Stokes County in 1815 to a resident of the county, Elizabeth Ferguson. The Benjamin in Stokes County had no children in the household in 1790. If Benjamin of Granville married in 1770, I don't think all the children would have been gone in 20 years - unless he and Charity Bonner had no children. This Benjamin could POSSIBLY have been a young son of Benjamin of Granville. However, they did not usually purchase land and establish a household at such a young age, did they (19 or under)?
