I am looking for Gus Carroll who had a son with Nancy Ray (don't know if they were ever married or not) named Ross Carroll in 1882 in probably Lafayette County, MS. Don't know if Gus died or they divorced (if they were ever married), but Nancy Carroll is shown in Lafayette County, MS records as marrying J. R. Wakefield. I know that the Wakefields moved to Texas, either Graham, TX or Midland, TX and they flipflopped between Mississippi and Texas for several years...but Nancy died in Texas in the 1930s and Ross Carroll, her son, died in Lafayette County, MS in the early 1960s. Would like any information on Gus Carroll, as I don't have any information...birth, marriage, death, burial...etc.... Anyone connected to me? Since you know he died in MS. send for a copy of his Social Security Application ( use the " write it " feature of the SSDI index to generate the letter of request, the cost for the info. is $7.00. It takes a few weeks to get this info. but well worth the wait. This will give you his full name, where he lived and what type of work he did at the time he applied. It will also give the name's of his mother and father and his date and place of birth. From that you can send away for a copy of HIS birth certificate, and your on your way. Also send for a copy of his death certificate, also loaded with information.
