Yes, Jackie, we have exchanged info, but it has been almost a year since I have given much attention to genealogy. Since the death of my wonderful husband last August, I have been busy just trying to maintain the tasks of daily living. Thank you so much for your interest and your response. I have gradually picked up bits of info on these Sampson and Duplin County, NC Carroll/Carrells. I am going to be very busy for the next two weeks, but then I will try to post some of my information. I now have Alexander Carrell's will, one land grant, and several deeds. The deeds show the names of persons who owned adjoining property. I have tried to piece together all the Carroll families, and still have not found an Alexander in any of them. However, several of them did live in the same region around Six Runs Creek, so I think they must have been related. I think there were at least 2 Carroll families - maybe more. I think some of them were in the area long before Jesse came from Granville County, NC. In fact Jesse married Rachel Gavin whose mother was supposed to have been Patience Carroll prior to her marriage to Samuel Gavin in Duplin County, NC in 1756. That is the earliest Carroll marriage I have found in that area. Folks often married cousins in those days. I have wondered if Patience may have been a sister to Jesse's father, William. One of the Sampson County Heritage books mentions that the John Carroll family came from Craven County, NC in the 1730s. I think they lived right there in the same place in 1730s. I can't find documentation on that right now, but I think that whole area was called Craven before it became New Hanover, then Duplin, then Sampson. More in a few weeks, Lura
