Both of us have the same info you mentioned plus the oral family tradition of having Cherokee blood some where in the family lines. The Hon. John may have been a cousin of my ancestor DeRosey Carroll who lived in Charleston, AR and was killed by Jawhawkers in 1863. So far I have not been able to confirm this.
