    2. I have all these CARROLLS in my family and a lot of info on them. I still am searching as to how STEPHEN CARROLL immigrated to this country and when. 3. I have only been on the list a short while, but I am beginning to see that my search is almost futile. It is now apparent that Carroll's are the Smith's of Ireland. Does anyone have a general consensus of when the Carroll migration began to this country. My John Wilson Carroll was born in North Carolina in 1793 which means at least his father was born in about 1765-1770. Just in the past week, I have seen New England Carroll's, Georgian's, New Jersey and of course Irish. Would there be a consensus on this list as to the most knowledgeable persons concerning this family. Surely this line has a common ancestor. At least two of my cousins, Faye Carroll of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Virginia Lee of Coweta, Oklahoma and myself, have been looking for years trying to find just one shred of evidence of the early life of John Wilson Carroll. Admittedly he is hard to track, being somewhat nomadic in his travels before arriving in Kentucky. At one time I thought I'd find his roots in Maryland or his father, but we have not established his parentage. Family lore states he was born in Chester County, South Carolina, however, subsequent findings state he was born in North Carolina. All of the Carrolls of Grayson, Hart, Edmonson, Barren and Warren Counties, Kentucky can trace their ancestry to this man. Many Kentucky Wilmoth's and Constants can do the same as well as many of the Sanders in the same area. Doyle Sanders Tulsa, OK
