Many Carroll/Carrell families migrated from NC to GA. >> Also for Larry - Lura is right, I found this one in the "History of Sumter Co, GA" by Jack Frank Cox, on page 161: from Deed Record - B- Sumter County, Georgia Habersham-17 July 1833 - ADAM PITNER to BEN B. SMITH Lot No. 160, 27th district. Witt: HARPER HAYNES & DAVID P. WALKER & ELISHA CARROLL, J.P. Sumter Co, Georgia is in South GA, was founded from part of Lee County, Georgia in 1831, was spelled Sumpter at that time. Americus is the Co. seat. Better known now as the home county of former President of US, Jimmy Carter of Plains, Sumter Co, GA. Also, Larry, my MARGARET (CARROLL) b 1799 Duplin Co, NC mar WILLIAM LAMB (1783 New Hanover Co, NC) & moved from NC down into GA sometime between 1846 & 1850. She & her husb & children, were accompanied by 2 of her bros, JESSE CARROLL & JAMES CARROLL - these all ended up in Berrien Co, GA. Maybe that will help some.... Also, there were CARROLLs on the west side of the state of Georgia - as there is a town named CARROLLTON, (GA) I believe this was named for some CARROLLs, but am not sure. I am not familiar with that line at all - maybe someone else has some info on these.... Good luck, Sarah Howell Studstill
