I received the following response from a cousin to whom I forwarded the prior posting regarding Carroll marriages in "The Marriages of Washington County, Virginia 1781-1853" @ 1993 by Mr. D. E. Brown and "Washington County Virginia Marriages 1853-1880" by Thomas Colley. Does anyone have the answer regarding parentage annotations in the sources used by the authors? Jim Crownover- CA "I noticed the last 3 marriages (1853- 1880) named the parents of the bride and groom. The 1st 3 marriages (1781-1953), by a different author, did not name the parents. Is it possible that the earlier parental names are available in the original documentation?"
