Diane, What was your G-Grandfather's name? Where was he born (if you know)? Where did he live? Where did he die? My Carrolls MAY have come from VA to NC, possibly from Isle of Wight County, VA, or they MAY have come directly into NC. I believe they MAY be Scots-Irish or Ulster Scots, because as far as I know, my line has been Protestant. My earliest one was Dempsey Carrel, Sr. in Halifax County, NC in 1759. He was in Duplin (which became Sampson) County, NC by 1770. His son Alexander Carrell married in 1783 and died in Sampson County, NC. His son Major Hardy Carrell married in 1815, lived, and died in Stokes County, NC. Can anyone identify with these? Lura, Do you have any of Dempsey/Demse Carroll's siblings? Also do you know how to get into the Carroll DNA website to look at the families that have been submitted? I tried but unable to get the actual names of the ancestors...... Bettye Lura <[email protected]> wrote: Diane, What was your G-Grandfather's name? Where was he born (if you know)? Where did he live? Bettye, No, I don't know Dempsey's siblings. In Halifax County, NC he lived by Thomas. In Sampson he owned land near Stephen, Alexander, Thomas, Elisha, Dempsey, Jr., John, James, and Jesse. The DNA tests tell us he was definitely related to Jesse and Alexander. He was likely related to John and a couple of others born around 1800. The administrator of the CARROLL project now has the results displayed in .pdf format. You need the free Adobe Reader to see the web page. If you don't have that on your computer, you can download it from several places, but you might want to read about it here http://www.educ.ttu.edu/howto/acroreader.html One good thing about having it in .pdf format is that you can actually save the page to your hard drive. You can access the site by going to http://www.childtalk.com/History/carrollfamilydna.html then click on "Carroll Family DNA Values". Or you can also go directly to http://www.childtalk.com/History/carrollfamilydnavalues.pdf When you get to the site, you can make the font size larger by clicking on the + in the menu at the top. Hope that helps, Lura ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bettye Wingate" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 12, 2007 11:05 PM Subject: Re: [CARROLL] William N.
