    3. Hi, Karen -- I have no idea who William's father was. Did Joseph have a son named William born about 1794-1796? I only know his whereabouts from 1850 on -- in Georgia then Alabama. He was in the Atlanta area in 1850 with six children aged from 20 down to 6, with no wife in the household. The first 4 children were born in So. Carolina, the last two in Georgia (aged 9 and 6) His son Marion (aged 9 in the 1850 census) stated on his Confederate Pension appl. that he was born in Fulton Co. (not formed at that time -- it was still part of DeKalb), so both of the two younger children were probably born around the Atlanta area. Then William moved to Cherokee Co. AL and died there on April 10, 1887. His second wife was named Susan (probably Plemons), since on one of the census a Jane Plemons is part of his household, age 101. His six children in 1850 were James B., William, Mary A., Martha A., Marion (our line) and Clement. If any of these names ring a bell, please contact me. I'm not directly related to that one, but am descended from Joseph Carroll through his daughter Martha Carroll/Carrellk m. to William J Hugg.
