Larry Why do you think your James Madison is related to Bartholomew Carroll SR? Who was James married to ? When did James die? Did you search for an obit? Have you found any verivable siblings of James? Did you find James M. Carroll on any other census? Were there any siblings of James that they may have traveled with? Or his wife's family? Do you have his wife's maiden name? If you would answer each of the above questions it will give me something to start with to see if I have any information on your James M. Bettye L Carroll <[email protected]> wrote: Bettye, My James Madison Carroll put on a census out here in Cowlitz County, Washington that he was born in Kentucky. He also put that his mother was born in Kentucky, and his father was born in Virginia. According to his tomb stone, we took his death date minus his years, months, and days alive we came up with March 6, 1829 as his birth date. He got married out here in Cowlitz County, Washington Territory on November 9, 1854. We have all their children and etc. forward but we do not know who his parents were. He was out here before the civil war so there shouldn't be any military records on him. He was born before Virginia split into two states. So that is my brick wall for many many years.
