George Wyman Carroll who was married to Emma F.Briggs. According to the 1920 US Federal Census Nora Bohan was working as a cook for this family. I'm curious if there are any old photos of any of the servants your family may have had. I must admit my great-aunt Nora did very well for herself. She came from Ireland, she first worked for Frank.S Gerome who was a banker, then she worked for Dr. clinton Stark and then George W. Carroll. She either heard some great conversations and stock tips when serving meals or all of these individuals helped her along the way. Either way ole Nora was pretty shrewed. She lived a very long life and when she passed away in 1949, she had her own home, plenty of cash, a great deal of stocks and bonds, a brand new Cadalliac(she didn't drive or my mother didn't think she did).Too boot she was unmarried. So much for "ole Spinsters" Several years ago I went to Connecicut to do some research and I was in Norwich, I did find the house, I was very tempted to knock on the door and see if the present family found any old boxes in the attic. But I ran out of time. Margaret Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
